Flying Dragon Qigong – information

July 8th, 2010

September 1957 during a hot summer afternoon in Beijing. In an inner room of the White Cloud Monastery a somewhat bored seven year old boy, Wu Waize was thinking of what kind of game he could play be himself. While doing so, he sees a thousand-year-old chair and his temptation begins to wonder. Like it has done so many times before. His temptation gets the best of him and he climbs up onto the chair. The chair that is said to belong to Wang Chongyang, the legendary founder of the Dragon Gate Sect.

So little Wu Waize decides in his mind, why not, the ancient chair is small and it’s just about the right size for him to sit in, besides no one else is looking. So little Wu climbs up and settles himself in. He begins to rock back and forth, tilting the chair further and further, rocking, and rocking until – - -snap – - a leg on the chair breaks and he tumbles to the ground.
Being a resourceful child he figures that he can fix the chair before anyone will know what had happened. No such luck in walks the majestic figure of his teacher, the Grand Master of the Dragon Gate Sect, Venerable Master Du.

Up to your tricks again, boy? Instead of trying to stick that piece of wood back together with your hands, why don’t you take a closer look at it? The little boy’s fright turns to amazement as he peers at the ancient calligraphy lining the hollow of the broken chair leg. Traced in delicate characters it was written: In the fifth month of the Northern Song Shaoxing year, I, Wang Chongyang sit in this chair.
Nine hundred and thirty seven years from today, on the fourteenth day of the ninth month, Wu Waize will break this chair in the afternoon, around five o’clock.
The young boy gapes in awe. The day is September 14, 1957 and the temple bells are just striking five.

northern shaoxing -

It appears to me
that the Northern Song Shaoxing year is tied to the Northern Song Dynasty years. The history lasted from 960 to 1127 AD.

in conclusion, Wang Chongyang wrote the note in 1020. He was 60 years old.

The chair now sits on display in the Museum of Chinese History, opposite the Chinese Parliament in Tiananmen Square. And Wu Waize, now known as Dr. Baolin Wu, had his first encounter with the mystical mind of the Taoist philosophy (Taoism) at the age of seven. Today lives in Los Angele’s where he is a leading doctor of Chinese medicine and Qigong healing.

Wang Chongyang

The Fifth Patriarch: Wang Chongyang: (960 – 1127)
Wang was born in a village in the Shaanxi Province of China. He embraced many of what he considered the better aspects of the three teachings which dominated China’s religions at the time – Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism and incorporated them into the Quanzhen school.

In addition to being the founder of the Dragon Gate Sect, Wang Chongyang created his branch of Daoism that became known as the Quanzhen Sect (School).

There seems to be some confusion as to whether or not Taoism is different than Daoism.
Wikipedia classifies the two has one, in this entry: Taoism vs. Daoism
But again in Wikipedia, a second entry of the two is seen here: Daoism–Taoism, classifying them to be a romanization issue. Which is the difference between a written word or spoken speech.

There are a lot of websites on the internet that claim Wang Chongyang was born in the year 1113 and died in the year 1170. And show his photo as being this:

That seems to be a pretty good photo wouldn’t you say? Besides the fact that the first photograph ever recorded was taken in 1814 by Nicéphore Niépce using a sliding wooden box camera.

I choose to believe that Wang was born in the year 960 and died in the year 1127 as stated above. I understand that those years represent a 167 year life span. I also believe that in the article at the top of this page. Wu Waize (now known as Dr. Baolin Wu) found a ancient scroll in 1957 written by Wang – some Nine hundred and thirty seven years earlier. That would have put the time of Wang’s scroll at the year 1020. How I learned of the 937 year old prediction was from a book written by Dr. Baolin Wu himself.

You will see below some brief history of Li Ching-Yuen, developer of the health system product “Jiulong Baguazhang”. And how he was Supposedly said to have lived a longer life span then Wang.

Flying Dragon Qigong

Qigong is the physical practice of opening one’s body and mind to the subtle shiftings of Qi.

Qi (pronounced chee) is a Chinese word referring to “life energy”
gong (pronounced gung, as in lung) means achievement or results

There are many styles of Qi exercises, falun gong, wild goose qigong, dragon and tiger, flying bird, flying dragon qigong, iron shirt, the list goes on but today we are going to talk about flying dragon qigong.

This is the most powerful and effective method for internal health and internal energy.
It is health system product of Jiulong Baguazhang. The flying dragon, among others, was developed by Master Li Ching-Yuen. He claimed to be born in 1736, while disputed records suggest 1677.

Li Ching-Yuen, photographed in 1927 at the residence of General Yang Sen
Born 1677 (Assumed to be such)
Szechuan, China
Died May 6, 1933 (aged 256?)
Szechuan, China
Both alleged lifespans of 197 and 256 years far exceed the longest confirmed lifespan.

Flying dragon qigong is the “The Crown Jewel” of the Jiulong Baguazhang Health System. This system also created the concept of the Bagua Map used in Feng Shui practices.

The flying dragon qigong method has circular walking forms that are designed to prepare the nervous system and then the body. For the spontaneous opening of the internal flow of Qi within the channels of the body. This method allows the body to attain healthy internal energy circulation, calm the mind and induce a state of tranquility.
